Make a Difference!
Our church covenant declares that “We, the members of First Unitarian, agree to . . . be a positive force for social, environmental, and economic action.”
Social Justice is a key element in our Unitarian Universalist DNA. Our Social Justice Council coordinates and sponsors a variety of programs that allow First Unitarian volunteers to make a difference in our community and in the world, and “walk the talk” of our covenant. For more information, contact Social Justice Council member Peggy Whitmore, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or get involved directly with one of our programs.
The Social Justice Council has a small amount of funds available as grants. This is awarded to community groups – both within and outside the church -whose work reflects our values. You can find the application here.

Save the Date: Saturday, June 1, 2019 for the Social Justice Dinner, Dance and Auction.
Don’t miss the Social Justice Council’s BIG fundraising event of the year with a potluck in the courtyard, an auction for dinners and classes, and the band Franc Chewiwie and His Latin All-Stars playing in the Sanctuary. Bring your dancing shoes, or just come to listen. The fun starts at 4:30 pm.
To donate to the auction, click here or speak to an SJC member at the table during coffee hour. Sign up for the potluck and buy your tickets between services on Sundays starting April 28; or by emailing Bethe Orrell.
