POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Director of Finance & Operations
First Unitarian Church
Albuquerque, New Mexico

First Unitarian seeks an experienced and strategic-minded Director of Finance and Operations to provide management, planning and leadership for the congregation’s financial systems, daily operations, and campus facilities. The DFO will work closely with the ministers, and supervise other employees and a corps of volunteers to support the accomplishment of the church’s mission and programs.

The full job description is available here: https://drive.google.com/…/1O9aco6D_EVWVE0tdza58_d5oi…/view…

First Unitarian has approximately 840 members and is a community of about 1500 people, with an annual budget of just over $1 million. The congregation owns a four-acre campus composed of several buildings, including a sanctuary constructed in 2012. The congregation has grown and is working hard to keep up with the new levels of management and leadership required for a church our size. Our capable staff team values collaboration and camaraderie.

The ministers seek a DFO who is a strong communicator with experience and training in financial management. Project management and organization are critical skills. Interruptions are a part of the job in our busy office, so the person holding this position must be flexible, willing to learn and ready to seek help and support from other staff and lay leadership for initiatives responding to challenges that present themselves.

The DFO will interact with a wide range of people, and so must be both professional and personable, committed to inspiring and nurturing a culture of exceptional member and community service. Commitment to diversity and anti-racism is a must. Work includes some Sunday mornings and occasional evenings, and therefore has some flexibility during regular hours.

Persons of all faiths are invited to apply, however we desire a candidate who understands and honors the values and mission of our congregation. For more information about First Unitarian and Unitarian Universalism, please visit the websites at uuabq.org and uua.org.
