Social Justice Dinner, Auction, and Dance
IT’S A PARTY!
You may remember Franc Chewiwie and his band from the Radical Generosity event in the courtyard last September. If you do, you know his music makes you want to dance. Well, he’s back and we’re moving back the chairs in the sanctuary so we CAN dance!
Is always a blast and in the past, has had choice items like weekend getaways, choice of a minister’s sermon, bicycles, valuable artwork, etc.
There will also be services of all kinds for auction, along the lines of music lessons, computer repair, tax preparation, chimney cleaning, yard raking, piano tuning, specially prepared dinners for 4 to 10 people, wine tastings, etc. (If YOU can donate something like this, contact Bethe Orrelle at firstname.lastname@example.org)
is in the courtyard and it’s a potluck! Just for kicks, brings something different than what you would normally bring.
Wine and Beer will also be available for purchase.
are $25/person and are available between services on Sundays. If you are unable to get them then, email Bethe Orrell at email@example.com.
SOCIAL JUSTICE BENEFICIARIES
Some organizations within the church that benefited from SJC funds in 2018 include the Food Pantry, the After School Tutoring Program, ESL (English as a second language) program, Animal Advocates and more.
WHAT IS THE SOCIAL JUSTICE COUNCIL?
Social Justice work is a big part of First U’s mission and the SJC’s mission is to help fund the church’s social justice programs. The SJC also donates money to organizations outside of the church: The Center for Development in Central America, Faith Works, and Street Safe are just some of them.
